United States Air Force EmblemThe mission of the United States Air Force (USAF) is to fly, fight and air, space, and cyberspace. To do this, it needs well-trained pilots, but it also needs the support of superior warfighting technologies. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is the Air Force's only organization wholly dedicated to leading the discovery, development, and integration of warfighting technologies for our air, space, and cyberspace forces.

Air Force Research Laboratory ShieldThe AFRL is divided into ten technical directorates, located on various Air Force bases around the country, each of which focus on different types of technologies to support the warfighter. Two of these directorates, Directed Energy (RD) and Space Vehicles (RV), are located on Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) in Albuquerque, NM.

New Mexico Tech LogoNew Mexico Tech is an institute of higher learning in Socorro, NM, integrating education, research, public service, and economic development through emphasis on science, engineering, and natural resources.
